2021 MS Mentorship Forum Medical Professionals In Training

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Emerging knowledge of the neuropathology of MS and advances in neuro-imaging have expanded treatment horizons in multiple sclerosis. It is estimated that within the next decade, the demands of a growing patient population may outstrip the number of professionals dedicated to the treatment of this lifelong chronic disease.

Now in its seventh year the MS Mentorship Forum is a unique educational program designed for trainees who are interested in or have recently entered the field of MS practice. Participants will benefit from specialized training in MS from expert faculty members as well as discussions from peer mentors about networking and mentoring opportunities that will facilitate their successful advancement in their field of specialization. Small breakout sessions will allow for attendees to work directly with peer mentors who have recently completed fellowships and entered the field of MS care.

This Forum will be held in conjunction with the 2021 Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers Annual Meeting (CMSC) in Orlando, FL, October 25 thru October 28, 2021.

Forum participants will be provided:

  • Complimentary meeting registration
  • $2,000 scholarship to cover travel and hotel accommodations. Sunday night arrival required for Monday morning Mentorship Forum. Any additional costs incurred will be personal responsibility of the scholar.

Scholars must be available to attend events listed below:

  • Monday, October 25, 2021
      Full-Day MS Mentorship Forum and
      Evening Scholar Reception
  • Tuesday, October 26, 2021
      FCMSC Scholar Recognition Luncheon

*ELIGIBILITY:

  • Medical Residents with an interest in MS/Neuro-immunology who are enrolled in an accredited neurology or internal medicine or rehabilitation medicine training program.
  • First-year Fellows with an interest in MS/Neuroimmunology.

Successful candidates for MS MENTORSHIP FORUM PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS will receive specialized MS training not readily available within their local institutions. Candidates must be nominated by their department head or program director. Applications will be reviewed through a selection process established by CMSC/FCMSC leadership independent of grantors or supporters.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

The full day roundtable will convene expert faculty members (experienced experts noted in their subspecialty) and “peer mentor” neurologists or subspecialists who have completed specialty fellowships or 5-7 years of practice in areas of expertise important to MS care.
